Foundations

Tasked with redesigning the a long-standing institution, we knew the brand was feeling cold and corporate with the majority of the business done B2B. To improve Experian’s image we needed to pick colours and typography that was warmer and more human, yet retain a feeling of authority and trust in the brand.

Website

Hundreds of hours were spent deconstructing the incredibly confusing IA of the website (as validated by user-testing) and reorganised into simplified categories. The structure of the website works in 3 levels: top level with easy to digest at-a-glance information, mid-level with more info when the user digs further down and bottom level where we show the full data as often required by law for transparency.

Previously there were 5 different teams working asynchronously using their own styleguides. We started from scratch creating a universal design system that covers all the teams and provides the necessary components for any level of complexity in their designs.

A big challenge was to communicate complex sets of data in the simplest way possible that any demographic in the 6 million users of Experian can make easy sense of. From info-graphics to limiting the amount of text on a page we created visual styles and rules that helped build a confident system.

Like many other businesses, we knew that Jira wasn’t working for our designers. Therefore we chose to use Zeroheight as our platform for documentation which is more visual and quicker to export assets to.

Score Dial

When it comes to the score dial at Experian - this is the star of the show. A lot of customers only know the company for this metric and making any changes could have enormous financial impact to the customers and the business. We had to be very conservative with the changes that we made, making sure in testing we are adding value rather than removing it for our customers (see before and after using the slider).
